What You Already Know – What Is Dental Bone Management, And Why Is It Important?
As you already know, dental bone management is also referred to as dental bone grafting or augmentation. It is a surgical dental procedure that restores, repairs, or increases the density and volume of a patient’s jawbone, with a dental bone graft replacing missing or lost bone. This helps to provide a stable foundation for the precise placement of dental implants, which are required after tooth extraction, injury or bone loss from gum disease. Ensuring the safe placement of dental implants is a vital part of dental bone management, as it helps promote optimised bone regeneration and restore the jaw’s function, shape and operation. Other uses of dental bone management are to lift maxillary sinuses before dental implants are placed and to stabilise and support any loose teeth.
What Is The Master Pin Control System?
The Master Pin Control kit was developed in collaboration with dental professional Dr Istvan Urban, an expert in his field and one of the world’s top oral surgeons. This revolutionary pin system was designed specifically for the fixation of non-resorbable, resorbable and titanium membranes of local dense cortical bone.

Designed for your dental practice or dental laboratory to complement the original Master Pin Control kit and be just as easy to use. It has been developed for harder to reach oral areas or where there are areas of highly dense cortical bone, basically anywhere that the patient has a high bone hardness or density. This pin kit is also used for secure fixation of membranes in situations where the standard Master Pin Control kit is not ideal. It is able to provide secure fixation of membranes due to new pins with a thread made from biocompatible titanium alloy (grade 5). The drill also has a depth stop for safe placement of bleeding points for optimised bone regeneration.
As mentioned, all included pins are made from grade 5 biocompatible titanium alloy. They have a circumferential groove that increases the surface area of the pins, which means that they can be removed safely and easily after the healing period. They have a sharp tip and stable shaft, which promotes precise placement and insertion into even dense cortical bone. By ensuring safe placement and secure attachment, they also help to conserve patient comfort throughout and after the procedure, helping to ensure a successful healing period.
What Are The Benefits Of The Master Pin Control System, And How Does It Optimise Bone Management?
- Mini thread and screwdriver connection for safe and easy loosening of pins after the healing phase
- Sharp tip for precise placement, even in compact, dense cortical bone
- High strength of biocompatible titanium alloy pins due to a highly stable design
- Placement of bleeding points with twist drill as required for optimised bone regeneration
- Pre-graining is possible with a rotating pilot drill hand instrument
- Membrane fixation enabled with pins
