This means that the dental prosthesis device is attached to and supported by the patient’s jawbone, rather than surrounding teeth or soft mouth tissues. Fixed prostheses and removable prostheses are available, depending on what is considered the best option to suit a patient’s exact needs. For example, regarding implant-supported dentures, removable partial dentures, and complete dentures are available. The process of fitting these obviously will slightly vary depending on the dental prostheses and implant used. Protecting existing teeth and supporting teeth will also be a consideration during these restorative procedures to ensure an implant-supported prosthesis will benefit the overall health of a patient’s mouth.

For these patients, tissue-level dental implants are used for posterior teeth, or trans or subgingival healing at their soft tissue level. By contrast, true to their name, bone-level dental implants are used for bone-level restorations.
