What You Know Already – The Importance Of Dental Bone Grafts…
As you know already, dental bone grafting is a surgical procedure whereby bone or more commonly bone material is added into a patient’s upper jaw where the bone is too thin (low bone volume), missing, or there are bone defects. Dental bone grafts enable the patient’s natural bone, bone tissue, jawbone, and adjacent teeth to support a dental implant placement on top of it. This complete procedure has a number of benefits, and treats gum disease, tooth loss, naturally insufficient bone thickness, bone loss, bone substitution, missing teeth, tooth extraction procedures and any trauma or mouth injuries. Dental bone grafts are important as they are used as scaffolds to promote new bone growth, new bone formation, guided bone regeneration, socket preservation, and prevent the above issues.
These bone grafting procedures fall into three categories: minor, major, and sinus lift procedures (also known as sinus augmentation or ridge augmentation procedures). You will also be aware that there are multiple types of bone grafts and different substitute materials used, which act as a bone substitute. This includes xenografts (bovine bone grafts), made from animal bone; alloplasts, made from synthetic material; allograft bone grafts, sourced from a human bone donor; and autografts. Autograft bone grafts, which are comprised of the patient’s own bone. In contrast, the bone graft materials we offer at Meisinger, AlgOss, are actually natural, pure inorganic granulate, not animal, plant derived bone forming material. Let’s find out some more about it.
Introducing Meisinger’s Available Range Of AlgOss Natural Grafting Material…
AlgOss 100 Bone Grafting Material: A plant-based bone reconstruction material ideal for cases where volume constancy is important over a longer period. In these situations, the pure hydroxyapatite AlgOss 100 bone grafting material is recommended due to its high analogy to the human bone and assurance of longer volume stability.
AlgOss 20-80 Bone Grafting Material: Made of the same natural bone grafting materials as the AlgOss 20-80, this solution also has high analogy to the human bone. It is favoured by dental professionals in defects with extensive contact surface to the local bone. This is because it is a biphasic product with high tricalcium phosphate (TCP), also known as calcium phosphate, content (80%). This enables faster bone regeneration.
